We sincerely thank all donors and golfers who have supported the Jon Cohen Memorial Fund since its founding ten years ago.
The tournament’s original purpose was to honor and remember Jon, by recognizing, in his memory, a graduating senior of the Cherry Hill West varsity soccer team whose spirit and leadership qualities were integral to the team’s unity and success. This tradition will continue. However, the golf tournament will be discontinued.
Owing to a decade of successful fundraising, the fund will be able to continue awarding this scholarship far into the future. The fund’s success is owed to many people: donors, golfers, the good will of the community, friends of the fund, and especially the dedication of many—organizers of the fund and tournament, their families and friends—who’ve continued, year after year, to expend time and efforts of their own.
Many years back, the fund’s initial purpose was expanded to include donations to the Brothers in Arms Foundation, a charitable organization who mission is to provide support to family members of marines and corpsmen who have been critically wounded, or fallen, while serving within the Special Operations Community of The United States Marine Corps, in which Jon served. We are proud to have contributed significantly to this remarkable charity.
Once again, we thank all those who participated in a decade’s worth of golf tournaments. Despite occasional rain and threatening storms, but mostly sun and Jersey high humidity, we were pleased and gratified to witness each year the return of the “usual suspects”—golf addicts and well-wishers alike—dedicated to making the day a success. Thank You All!
